Version 9.5 Release Notes

Version 9.5 of the Smokeball Desktop App contains the following new features and refinements.

New features

Branch Office configuration

If your law firm operates in multiple locations, you can now add them in Smokeball and assign matters to specific offices.

Tagged Matters Dashboard Widget

We have added a new widget to the dashboard to help you visualise how many matters any individual tag has.

You can choose to display this widget in a numbers-based view or list-based view.

Numbers-based view

List-based view

The numbers based view shall allow users to see at a glance how many matters and leads a tag has associated with it, while the list view displays a clickable list of matters, grouped by tag.

When configuring the widget, you can select what statuses to include, select between matters, leads or both matters and leads, and select specific tags.

Completions Dashboard Widget

We have added a new widget to the dashboard to help manage upcoming Completion Dates. The widget can be customised to show all upcoming completion dates, or configured to show just the completion dates for a particular user.

You can add multiple instances of the same widget with different configurations, allowing you to track completions in the way that works best for you.

Refinements

Improvements when connecting to Calendar Sync

When setting up your calendar sync in Smokeball, just enter your email address and it will kick off a flow to set up your calendar via cloud sync. If cloud sync is not available for your email address, you will automatically be guided through the process to set up local sync.

Notable bug fix

In order to prevent data corruption issues, we have added validation to email addresses for contacts, confirming that they are in a valid email address format. If you open a contact card with an invalid email, you will not be able to save the contact record until this has been rectified.

Multiple email addresses can still be entered and separated with a comma (test1@email.com,test2@email.com) or semi-colon (test1@email.com;test2@email.com) but the email addresses must be valid.
