Time & Expenses: Setting Default Hourly Rates
When you are entering Time & Expense entries, you will be prompted to enter in a rate. If you or your staff have a default rate, you can add the rate to pre-populate and save yourself when adding time & expenses.
Make sure Time & Expenses is activated under activities.
How to set a staff member's default hourly rate:
1. From the Smokeball Settings, Staff & Users, open up the staff member
2. Click on the billing tab under the staff member's details
3. Enter your hourly billing rate and save

- You can override the default hourly rate based on a matter basis. Under matter details, click in Matter info
- You can also override the default hourly rate on activity codes
