Below are the highlighted new features released in June 2022 for Smokeball Billing:

Bank Reconciliation Refresh & New Features

View and Edit a Contact from the Edit Matter Page

Bank Reconciliation Refresh & New Features

  • Smokeball Billing has updated the Bank Reconciliation with a refresh of this screen and new features to make your bank reconciliation easier and faster.

    • A new search filter box has been added to quickly search and find specific transactions.

    • Slide toggles now appear at the top to allow firms to add or remove certain transactions types from view. 

    • Firms can now use any column to sort the table, allowing for a fast and easy way to group and browse transactions by date, reference numbers, debit and credit amounts, etc.

    • The option to print or download a copy of the draft bank reconciliation is now available in the new Print button at the top of the reconciliation table.

 View and Edit a Contact from the Edit Matter Page

  • Contacts can now be viewed and edited from the Edit Matter page in Smokeball Billing
    • Links now appear next to the contacts on a matter to allow a user to view or edit the contact.

    • Selecting the "View" link opens the contact page in a new tab allowing firms to view full contact details quickly and easily. Closing the Contact tab will return the user to the Edit Matter screen.
    • Selecting the "Edit" link displays a pop-up box, allowing firms to edit the selected contact's details without having to the the Edit Matter page.

 Designate an Expense Account for Operating Expense Checks in QuickBooks Integration

  • A new field has been added to the QuickBooks Online integration settings for Operating Expense Checks
    • Firms can now map their operating expense checks that are printed from Smokeball Billing to an expense account or an other current asset account from their chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

    • This new field will allow operating expense checks written from Smokeball Billing to be mapped independently from Operating Retainer transactions.

 Protect Funds in Trust Retainer Accounts

  • The trust account now has a subaccount for Protected Funds. 
    • Firms can now set aside and protect funds that have been earmarked for a specific purpose, ensuring those funds do not get used accidentally.
    • Easily manage protected funds on an individual matter or firm-wide basis
