Make the Smokeball dashboard work for you by adding widgets to keep track of important tasks, leads, and activities.
This article will go into detail on widgets available in our Widget Library. You can also customize your dashboard by moving widgets around and adding new dashboards. Â
Note: Only you can see changes made to your dashboard. Changes you make on the dashboard customization screen are not visible to other users in your firm.Â
How to add widgets to your dashboardÂ

Select Customize from the top-right corner of the dashboard to enter the layout customization screen.Â
- Select Add Widget and choose the widget you need from the Widget Library window.Â
- Select Save.
View leads or matters with no activityÂ
The Leads/Matters with No Activity widget shows all open and pending leads or matters that have not had any activity within a certain timeframe. Keep on top of your leads and don’t let matters fall through the cracks.Â

View recently edited documentsÂ
The My Recent Documents widget shows you 15 of the most recent documents you’ve saved changes in.Â

The New Leads and New Matters widgets show all new leads or matters created in a specific timeframe.Â

View matters by stagesÂ
The Stages widget shows all matters in a stage set, sorted by how far along the stage set they are. You can quickly tell if too many matters are being bottlenecked at a certain stage, or if there aren’t enough leads being converted into matters.Â

- Which stage set to display – you can also pick another one from the drop-down menu on the dashboard at any timeÂ
You can add the Stages widget multiple times to have a side-by-side view of different stage sets.Â

View upcoming medical request expiry dates
Matters with outstanding medical record requests are listed in the My Medical Documents Requests widget, helping you keep track of any upcoming or overdue requests.
The data in this widget comes from the Medicals & Settlement Details layout on Personal Injury matters.Â
All request dates are sorted by the due date with the closest due date at the top. Note: This widget will only show for matters where you are designated as the attorney responsible, person assisting, or staff. Â
What can you customize?Â

- View requests due in the next 7 or 30 days
- View only overdue requests
- Exclude requests overdue by more than 30 days
Medical requests can be grouped by matter, provider or date:
- Medical requests by Matter
- Medical requests by Provider
- Medical requests by Date
View Billable and Non-Billable Hours
Easily keep track of your hours using the Hours widget. Once enabled, the Hours widget displays your number of billable and non-billable time entries logged for the specified period.
Note: Pending fees will not be included.Â
What can you customize?
- Color of the strip above the widget name
- Display name
- Highlight colors for billable hours and non-billable hours
- The date range can be filtered by today, yesterday, this week, last week, current month, last month, or the entire year
Track Your Discovery Deadlines
Stay on top of your critical discovery deadlines with the Discovery Due Dates widget. Enabling this widget will display items from your matter’s Discovery Details field. Note: This widget will only show for matters where you are designated as the attorney responsible, person assisting, or staff. Â
What can you customize?
- Color of the strip above the widget name
- Display name
- You can group the items in the widget by matter, discovery type, date
- Filter to only show items due in 7 days or 30 days.Â
- You can exclude items that are more than 30 days overdue
Billable vs Non-Billable Amounts
Use the Billable vs Non-Billable Amounts widget to assess your firm’s performance and profitability. You can use this widget to track the amount of billable time versus non-billable time your firm does along with its dollar value.

- View time & fees by current user
- Filter by daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly increments.
Statute of Limitations
Use this widget to keep on top of important SOL dates.Â

- Filter your own matters or matters with a filed initiating document.Â
Assigned Matters
You can use this widget to see how many matters a staff member is assigned to.
