Version 9.2 of the Smokeball Desktop App contains the following new features and refinements.
New features
Create a File Note for a matter
File Notes (or Progress Notes) are used to document attendance and minutes for a client meeting. Create a File Note by selecting the New Document button in the Matter Action Bar. File Notes will open in Word.
A default template is provided upon opening a new File Note. You can replace this template with your own by navigating to Smokeball Settings > Document Containers in the desktop app, and modifying the File Note container.
Upon saving the File Note, it can be accessed from the All Files section at the bottom panel of the matter.
Record Time Worked
In a Time/Fee entry, you can now record the time worked on a task separately to the time you are billing the client for it. This allows your firm to accurately identify total time worked and amount of time write downs.
Refinements
Add Intake Form automation to a Precedent
When modifying or editing a Precedent, you can now choose to add an Intake Form link.Â
FamilyProperty Questionnaire relocates to the Intake tab
The Questionnaire button has been removed from the Matter Action Bar and can now be accessed from the Intake tab in the matter.
Learn more about these changes in the FamilyProperty Questionnaire article.
Further clarification on Authenticator apps when setting up 2FA
The process to set up 2FA now includes a message to "Click next if you already have an authenticator app installed on your smart phone" on the step to install an Authenticator app on your device.
Tagging for emails associated with a matter
Emails that have been associated to a matter in Smokeball will now be tagged with the Smokeball Category in Outlook.
