Create an Attendance Note

Learn how to create an Attendance Note document to record meetings, calls, or interactions with your client or a third party. Attendance Notes are stored alongside the other matter documents, differing from Memos which are saved separately in the Memos area of your matter.

To create an Attendance Note:

  1. Open a matter in the Smokeball desktop app.
  2. In the Matter Action Bar, select New Document, then select File Note.
  3. The Attendance Note will open in Microsoft Word, where you can start adding your notes.
  4. Select Save & Close on the top-left corner of the Word Action Bar once you are done with entering information in the Attendance Note.

After saving the Attendance Note, you can find it in the All Files section at the bottom of the matter.

Customise your firm's Attendance Note template

  1. Open the Smokeball desktop app, then select the Settings (gear) icon on the top-right corner to open Smokeball Settings.
  2. Click on Document Containers from the left panel.
  3. Right-click on the Attendance Note document container and select Modify.
  4. The template will open in Microsoft Word. Make your changes as needed, then Save and Close the template. Learn more about modifying document containers.
