April’s Smokeball Billing release has several exciting new features and updates. Read on to learn more.
New Features
- Professional Fee Summary improvements
- A timekeeper’s full name will be displayed on the Professional Fee Summary at the end of an invoice.
- You can choose to display their role under Invoice Settings or on the draft invoice page.
- Write-offs are displayed on their own lines and in italic with a strikethrough on the total.
- Rows are grouped by timekeeper and rate to account for when a timekeeper bills at different rates.
- A timekeeper’s full name will be displayed on the Professional Fee Summary at the end of an invoice.

Invoice Reminder emails now feature Pay Now links so long as your firm has an integrated payment process.
- Similar to the Pay Now button in an invoice email, this can be disabled on a per-matter basis.
- The Time & Fees tab and Expenses tab on a matter now feature a Print button and a CSV export button.
- A Billing Widget has been added to the Communicate Client Portal.
Updates
- The Matters tab on the Contacts page now features load-on-demand optimizations.
