Insurance General (NSW)

The Insurance General (NSW) matter type provides a catch-all matter for other types of Insurance disputes and related matters. You can also select whether you act for the Claimant or Defendant:

Common Contact Cards and Layouts

The following Contact Cards and Layouts appear by default on an Insurance General (NSW) matter:

  • Claimant
  • Defendant
  • Accident Details
    • Select ‘Accident Details’ to enter the Date of Accident and Time and Place of Accident. You can also enter the Accident Circumstances, Police Event Number and Injury Details here.
  • Expert
    • Select Expert to enter the Expert Details.

Uncommon Contact Cards and Layouts

Uncommon contact cards are also available for selection on a matter-by-matter basis, such as:

  • Legal Agent
  • Mediator
  • Process Server
  • Subpoenaed Party
  • Senior Counsel
  • Queen’s Counsel
  • King’s Counsel
  • Previous Solicitor
  • Additional Contact.

If you don’t see a contact card needed for this matter type, you can submit a request for it to be added to Smokeball.

Precedent Library

The Insurance General (NSW) matter provides access to the Insurance (NSW) Precedent Profile. This pre-set Precedent Library folder contains non-legally drafted precedents for everyday use, together with shortcuts to commonly used documents found under Court & Authority forms:
