About Smokeball Two-factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA), is a security mechanism that requires two or more forms of identification to access an account. This is different from traditional authentication, which only requires a password.

Why should I set up 2FA?

2FA adds extra security by requiring a second form of authentication that only you, the account owner, possess, such as a mobile device. This means that even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without it. It's a more secure method of protecting your account from unauthorised access.

How does 2FA in Smokeball work?

After entering your password, the Smokeball will prompt you for a code generated by an authenticator app on your mobile device. The authenticator app frequently generates a new code. To log in to Smokeball, enter the current code from the authenticator app.

Can I turn off 2FA?

Once you have enabled 2FA in Smokeball, you cannot turn it off. If you need help accessing Smokeball, contact our Support Team.

Can I access 2FA on more than one device?

As long as you have set up 2FA via Google Authenticator, you can access your code on any device that  has the Google Authenticator app installed, once you log in to it with your Google account. Learn more about how Google Authenticator works.

What should I do if I have lost or damaged my 2FA device?

If the device you use for 2FA is lost or damaged, please reach out to our Support Team to regain access to Smokeball. This helps prevent unauthorized access to your account if someone else finds your device. Our team is also available to help you set up 2FA on your new device.
