Convert Lead to a Matter

Once you firm decides to continue with a new lead, you can convert the Lead created in Smokeball to a Matter

To convert a Lead to Matter in the Smokeball desktop app:

1. Select the Convert to Matter button located above the Lead Details list.
   
2. Select the Matter Type that applies for this Lead.
   
   • Note: by default, Smokeball will show matter types within the same category as your lead. You can still navigate to another category and select any available matter type.
3. Select Convert.
4. After selecting convert, Smokeball will prompt you to confirm the conversion as it is not reversable (you cannot convert a matter back to a lead). 
   
5. Select Yes to finalise conversion to a matter.

The Lead window will close, then reopen as the selected matter type.

After converting the lead

Once converted, the heading colour changes from dark green to dark blue and the icon changes from (L) to (M).

If you have automatic matter numbering, Smokeball assigns a matter number/internal reference.

Did You Know

Leads in the web app can also be converted to a matter. Open the lead in the web app and then select the Convert Lead to Matter button.
