Creating Payment Links in Smokeball Payments

Learn how to use Payment Links to set up reusable, shareable links you can add to your website or any client-facing materials.

Important Note: Payments collected via Payment Links are not automatically recorded in Smokeball. 

To create a Payment Link:

  1. Select Create a New Link.
  2. Add a Name and Description of the Payment Link. This will appear on the public Payment Link URL.
  3. Configure the payment details:
    1. Select the Deposit account where incoming payments from the Payment Link should go to.
    2. Choose whether the Payment Link should offer a Fixed amount or if the Payer should enter their own amount.
      •  
        • Fixed amount allows you to state how much should be paid once you enter the desired value.
        • Payer enters the amount will not be pre-filled and value is entered by the payer. This option is recommended for websites.
    3. Tick Apply tax to set up GST on the payment, if needed.
    4. Select if you wish to collect additional details of the payer other than their billing address and email:
      • You can add a Client Reference field for the payer to enter any references.
      • You can add a Phone contact number field for the payer to fill in as an alternative contact method to email.
    5. Select Create Payment Link.

Your Payment Links will be automatically activated upon creating. Select the Share button to share the link as a QR code, via email, or to copy the link to your clipboard.

Select the three dots in the Payment Link card to view all payments that have come through via the link. You can also edit or disable the link.
