Smokeball's Activity Intelligence helps keep track of every matter you open as well as calendar events, documents created, tasks, emails sent/received, and memos. However, there could be tasks or events you want to keep track of that happen outside of Smokeball.
The Activity tab in a matter allows you to add all additional activities and tasks completed for that matter to ensure you have the most accurate information regarding work completed on a matter.
Add an activity within a matter
Open the matter and select the Activity tab. Then click on Activity from the matter action bar.
A New Activity window will appear on the screen.
- The date is automatically set to today's date, but you have the option to change it if needed.
- Staff name can be changed if another staff member performed the activity.
- If Hours (Hrs) is selected for the Duration, enter the duration in the format of hh:mm.
- The matter is automatically linked to the matter you generated this new activity from.
- When the activity is converted into a time entry, any information entered in the details field will appear in the subject line of the time entry.
Add an activity within the Activity View
Select Activity from the menu panel on the left and then select Activity from the action bar at the top of the screen.
When creating an activity this way, you will need to click the Browse button next to the Matter field in order to select the matter this activity applies to.
Fill out the fields as per the instruction in the previous section and click Save.
The activity will appear in the Activity calendar view as well as your Review AutoTime tab within this section.
Additional tips
- If you have AutoTime enabled, Smokeball automatically tracks your Activities completed in the software and assigns a time value to them. These activities will appear in the Activity section or Review AutoTime tab within the Activity section.
- You can amend an Activity from the Activity section by double-clicking on it.
