Litigation General (WA)

The Litigation General (WA) matter type provides a catch-all matter for all other types of litigious matters.

You can select whether you act for the Initiating Party or the Responding Party:

Initiating Party and Responding Party cards have a Details sublayout where you can select their appropriate roles. For:

  • Initiating Party: You can select Claimant, Plaintiff or Appellant.
  • Responding Party: You can select Defendant or Respondent.

The Other Side's Solicitor contact card is also available for the corresponding party.

Layout

In addition to the parties, the following layout appears by default on a Litigation General (WA) matter:

  • Case Details
Enter your case number, registry, division, court and pleading dates.

Uncommon contact cards are also available for selection on a matter-by-matter basis:

If you don’t see a contact card needed for this matter type, you can submit a request for it to be added to Smokeball.

Precedent Library

The Litigation General (WA) matter provides access to the Litigation (WA) Precedent Profile. This pre-set Precedent Library folder contains non-legally drafted precedents for everyday use, together with shortcuts to commonly used documents found under Court & Authority forms:

If the Precedent Profile does not appear in the Precedent Library, please ensure that you have subscribed to the Precedent Profile.

If you don’t see a commonly used and publicly available form and you would like it added to Smokeball, you can request a form.

Recent Updates

The Western Australia Litigation General Matter Type was recently converted from a Non-Localised Matter Type to Western Australia Localised Matter Type. Please see our What to expect when Smokeball localises a Matter Type to see how these changes may apply to you.
