Create a Lead

Learn how to create a new lead in Smokeball.

Leads are included in Smokeball Prosper+ and available as an add-on to Smokeball Grow and Smokeball Boost.

Entering a lead is similar to creating a new matter.

Creating a Lead in the Smokeball Desktop App

Available on Smokeball Grow and Prosper+

To add a new lead, go to the Smokeball homepage and click on the New Lead button located at the top left corner.

From the New Lead window, you can take notes and record important information right away while on the phone with the lead.

  1. Enter the lead's name, mobile and/or email. If the lead already exists in Smokeball, select them from the drop-down menu that appears when you type their name.
  2. Assign the Lead Type. This is similar to selecting a new matter type.
  3. For specific matter types, you can choose a Matter or Lead Intake form from the Intake FormĀ drop-down menu.
    • This option is only available if your firm is on the Smokeball Prosper+ plan or Grow plan with the Intake Add-on.
    • If you have FamilyProperty, those forms will also appear under this list.
  4. Assign theĀ Person ResponsibleĀ for the lead.
  5. Assign theĀ Referrer and Referral type.
  6. Record the financial details of theĀ Billing TypeĀ andĀ Fee/Estimate provided.
  7. Record any notes into aĀ Memo.
  8. Select Create LeadĀ to create the Lead.Ā 
  9. Select Create & OpenĀ to open the Lead file and continue to work on it.

View existing leads

To view a list of leads, select theĀ Leads folder from theĀ Matter View.

You can also add aĀ New LeadsĀ widget to your Dashboard to keep track of all new leads that come through to your firm. Learn more about widgets and the dashboard.

Creating a Lead in the Smokeball Web App

To create a new lead in the Smokeball Web App:

  1. SelectĀ MattersĀ from the left menu, then select theĀ Leads tab.
  2. Select Add Lead.
  3. Choose whether the lead is an individual or an organisation, then enter their details.
  4. SelectĀ Save.

TheĀ Leads tab is where you will find your list of existing leads. You can also use the Search bar on the top-right corner of the web app to find specific leads.
