You can utilize Smokeball's calendaring features to create reports to track court dates and other time-sensitive deadlines. Read on to learn more.
Create a custom calendar
You first need to create a custom calendar. To do so:
- Navigate to the Calendar view and select Manage calendars.
- Select Create a new calendar in the pop-up window.
- Name the report and assign it a color.
To add events to this calendar, open a matter with court dates and:
- Select the Event button.
- Fill out all relevant information. By default the event will be added to the calendar of assigned staff. Custom calendars are also included under staff. Click on the Staff dropdown menu and scroll down until you find the custom calendar you created.
- Note: You can add dates to multiple calendars and not just the custom calendar you created.
- Select Save. The event will appear in the matter's event list and indicate which calendars it has been added to.
If you have existing events you wish to add to a custom calendar, you can do so by right-clicking on the event and then selecting Edit. This will open the event pop-up window and allow you to assign the event to your custom calendar using the aforementioned Staff dropdown menu.
Generate a court dates report
- Navigate to the Reports view.
- Select the Event List report.
- Under the Calendar filter, un-check Select All and then select the Court Dates checkbox.
- Select the View Report button.
The generated Event List report will only show events assigned to the custom calendar you created.
