This guide will help you troubleshoot issues related to the connection between your Smokeball account and your Microsoft Word app.
Follow the steps outlined in the sections below to troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the add-in.
Re-enable the Smokeball Add-in for Microsoft Word
When Smokeball cannot communicate with Microsoft Word, the Smokeball toolbar in Word will go missing.
Try to reconnect the Smokeball Add-in by:
- In a Word document, select File in the top left corner.
- Select Options from the bottom-left corner. Then select Add-ins from the window menu on the left.
- Under the Manage section, expand the drop-down list and select COM Add-ins. Then click the Go button.
- In the list of Add-ins available, tick the Smokeball Toolbar checkbox and click the OK button to save changes.
Reinstall Smokeball
If Smokeball was installed before Microsoft Word, then the Smokeball toolbar and add-in will not appear in Word. You will have to manually reinstall Smokeball in this scenario:
- Go to Add or Remove Programs on your PC.
- Uninstall Smokeball.
- Download and reinstall Smokeball.
- Check that the Smokeball Toolbar add-in is enabled.
Update Word to the latest version
Ensure your Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office for Business product is updated to the latest version.
To check for updates:
- Open Microsoft Word and select File from the top-left corner.
- Select Account from the menu on the left.
- Click the Update Options button and click Update Now.
- Let Microsoft check for and download any available updates.
- Check that the Smokeball Toolbar add-in is enabled.
