VERA has teamed up with Smokeball to help automate your legal scheduling and task management. VERA extracts data from legal documents, mitigates human errors in task tracking, and streamlines your document-driven workflows.Â
With VERA you will be able to automatically capture deadlines and court dates and reduce your administrative workload. VERA is also a secure solution, as the document data it extracts is not stored nor used to train AI models.Â

Set up VERA
You can get started with a free trial. To do so:
- Navigate to VERA's homepage.
- Select the Login button in the upper right.
- You can use your Google account information or another email address to create your account.
- Once your account is created, click on your user profile in the upper right and then select Settings.
- Enter your Smokeball username and password and select Sign In.Â
- Under Settings > Connectors select Connect Smokeball
- Select the Dashboard link.
- Upload a file using the provided buttons.Â
- You will have the option to save an uploaded document to the matter as well.Â
It may take a couple minutes to process the document. Once processed, you will see an overview of the document with relevant date, time, and location information displayed. You can use the buttons under this information to create an event or task in Smokeball. A document summary and list of entities (if applicable) are also provided.Â
Important Note: Some legal document formats may not be readable by VERA's automated extraction process. In addition, non-standard document formatting may cause VERA to misread data. For VERA to work best, use documents in .PDF, .JPG, .PNG, or .BMP formats.Â
