Follow these steps to change the type of an existing Matter in Smokeball:
- Click on the Matter Type field under Matter Details.
- Select the blue change... link.
- Select the new matter type and then select OK.
- Enter a Reason For Change and then select OK.
- If there are some matter fields that are not available on the matter you are changing to, a confirmation message will appear to warn that this data will not be brought across with the change. You must confirm you have read this message to continue.
- These matter fields will be deleted from the matter.
- Contact card information will be saved, you may just need to re-add the contact to an available role once the matter type is changed.
The matter will then reopen with as the new matter type, bringing across parties and data from the original matter where available on the new matter.
