dashboardWISE Integration

Learn how to connect Smokeball to dashboardWISE and turn your practice-management data into clear reporting for your firm.

dashboardWISE is a law-firm analytics and reporting platform that brings firm, staff, client, matter, work-in-progress, billing, collections, revenue, utilization, and practice-area metrics into one consistent view. Learn more on the dashboardWISE website.

Connect Smokeball to dashboardWISE

Before you begin, make sure you have an active dashboardWISE account, an active Smokeball account, and permission to authorize third-party integrations.

1. Sign in to dashboardWISE and select Integrations from the left navigation.

2. Find Smokeball and select Connect.

Open Integrations and select Connect on the Smokeball card.

3. Enter your credentials on the secure Smokeball sign-in page, then select Sign in.

Sign in to Smokeball to authorize the dashboardWISE connection.

4. Review the requested access and approve the connection. Smokeball returns you to dashboardWISE and the initial sync starts automatically.

Complete the initial Smokeball sync

The first sync imports the authorized Smokeball data and prepares your reporting dashboards. The progress window shows the status of each stage.

1. Keep the synchronization window open while dashboardWISE imports and processes the available data.

The initial sync shows progress for each imported data stream.

2. When the sync is complete, select View dashboard.

Synced Smokeball data appears in dashboardWISE reporting views.

What data is available in dashboardWISE

dashboardWISE reads the Smokeball data needed to build firm-wide reporting, including:

  • Firm and staff records
  • Contacts and matters
  • Activities and AutoTime entries
  • Fees, expenses, invoices, bill lines, and payments
  • Bank accounts and bank transactions

This data powers reporting for client and matter health, work in progress, billing, collections, revenue, realization, staff utilization, and practice-area performance. Available metrics depend on the records, permissions, billing models, and firm configuration in the connected account.

After the initial import, scheduled refreshes and Smokeball webhook notifications keep reporting synchronized as relevant records change. The integration is read-only and Smokeball remains the system of record.

Monitor sync health or run a manual sync

Open Settings from the left navigation, then select Syncs. This page shows the connected source, latest run, data freshness, webhook health, automatic sync cadence, and manual sync availability.

Open Settings, then Syncs, to review connection health and start an available manual refresh.

To refresh your Smokeball data manually, select Sync now when the button is available. One manual refresh is available every 24 hours. The page updates the latest-run and data-freshness details after synchronization.

Disconnect or reconnect Smokeball

To disconnect, open Integrations, select Details on the Smokeball card, then select Disconnect and confirm.

Open Smokeball integration details to disconnect the connection.

After disconnecting, new synchronization stops and dashboardWISE removes the stored credentials, webhook subscription, and imported dashboard data. This cleanup runs in the background. Wait until the deletion notice clears before reconnecting.

To reconnect after cleanup is complete, return to Integrations and select Connect on the Smokeball card.
