If you have received trust funds from a client with multiple matters, you can easily deposit the money into trust and then divide it accordingly with a few clicks. To do so:
- Navigate to the Accounts view.
- Under the Transactions tab, select the relevant trust account, if there are multiple.
- Select Deposit Funds.
- Under the Allocated Matters section, use the search to enter the first matter. Add an amount using the field to the right.
- Select the blue Add Matter link to add the next matter. Use the search to enter the client's next matter. Add an amount using the field to the right.
- Enter the amount to be divided to each matter using the fields on the right side of the Deposit Funds window.
- Select Process Only or Process/Open Receipt.
The Trust Account receipt will indicate payments across multiple matters.
Your Accounts View will also indicate the bulk transaction under the Description column.
