The Body Corporate Levy Recovery (QLD) matter type has been amended with the ability to act for the Creditor (Body Corporate) or the Debtor (Lot owner).

17th September 2026

Smokeball Intake has been updated:

• When sharing the QR code or link to a Web Enquiry form, a message reminding you to publish the form first before sharing will now appear if the form has unpublished changes.

  

• Fixed an issue with forms appearing blank if it included a field or group label with formatting but no text.
• Fixed files going missing from the matter when a file was removed part-way through uploading on a form.
• Fixed web enquiry submissions erroring when a company group was left blank but the company staff details were filled in. 
• Fixed an issue with mapped field options not loading on Divorce forms.

Smokeball Messages has been updated with the following bug fixes:

• Fixed a "Cannot connect to messages" error upon opening Messages.
• Fixed new messages not appearing in the Global Messages tab. The message would show against the matter but not globally, as an intermittent issue most likely to occur as the Smokeball Desktop app starts up.
• Fixed an issue with a new conversation not reliably opening after creation.
• Fixed sending or sharing files triggering an unread counter on the sender's own conversation.
• Fixed the unread counter staying on the Messages tab in both matter and firm view after an unread conversation was archived by another staff member. Archiving now clears the counter.

The following update have been made to the Smokeball Precedent Library:

• The Appointment of Enduring Guardian form located in Court & Authority Forms > NSW Forms > Estate Planning Forms has been updated with the most recent version. 

The following updates have been made to Estate Planning (NSW):

• In the Will POA and Enduring Guardianship (NSW) matter type, the Enduring Guardianship tab now contains a section on Decisions and Limits on Authority - Restrictive Practice.
• In the Enduring Guardianship (NSW) matter type, the Guardianship Details layout now contains a section on Decisions and Limits on Authority - Restrictive Practice.

14th September 2026

The By-Laws (QLD) and Strata Advice (QLD) matter types have been updated with the following change:

• The Body Corporate Manager contact card now sits under Body Corporate, rather than appearing as a separate card.
  • For new matters, you will see and use the contact card under Body Corporate.
  • For existing matters, the old separate contact card may still appear. This is expected behaviour and is not an error. You can add the same contact under the new Body Corporate Manager card and then delete the old duplicate card.

The Smokeball Web App has been updated with the following refinements:

• Controlled Money Account (CMA) payments now offer the same payment types as Trust Payments - Bank Cheque, Bank Transfer, Direct Debit and Trust Cheque. 

  • Selecting Bank Transfer allows you to further select a Transfer Type option (Direct Deposit or BPAY).

    

  • Selecting Direct Deposit exposes the Account Name and Account Number fields.

    

• When raising an invoice adjustment, you can now credit or write off the card surcharge. A new Surcharge section (pre-GST total, credit amount, GST, GST credit and write-off) will flow through to the Balance Due and to the Invoice and Adjustment Note PDFs.
• Fixed a bug where the Matter Invoice Title, Subtitle and Notes were reverting to None on the Invoice Settings tab after leaving and re-entering Edit Matter, when those fields use the invoice template's defaults.

The Messages/Client Portal feature has been updated with the following:

• Fixed a bug where unread notifications were not clearing when a client deleted their message before it was read. The unread counter now disappears when the message is deleted.
• Fixed a delay in sent messages appearing in the conversation. Messages now show immediately on send, and are rolled back if the send fails.
• Fixed a bug where a newly created conversation was not appearing for participants until the page was refreshed.

Smokeball Intake has been updated with the following:

• When a form respondent enters payment information in a Payment component, the Submit and process payment button no longer appears. Instead, a message is now shown at the bottom of the component that "Payment will be processed upon submission of this form". 
• Fixed a bug where the formatting toolbar was hidden in the Message Templates editor when the message content is too long.
• Fixed a bug where message templates were not pulling through the First Name and Last Name values.

Archie has been updated with the following refinements and bug fixes:

• ChatGPT 5.5 is now available again after fixing some bugs in the backend.
• Archie now answers from live matter data, instead of cached data up to 6 hours old.
• When creating a task, memo or event in Archie, you can now ask Archie about them in the same conversation.
• You can now link prompts in the Prompt Library to Lead Types.
• Archie no longer silently skips photos and screenshots on a matter.
• Fixed a bug where drafts returned [PLACEHOLDER: address] instead of the firm's own address.
• Fixed a bug where the "Most recent email" was not returning the newest email.
• Fixed a bug where matter chat failed if a firm record could not be found.
• Fixed a bug where agent-mode templates were reporting "No emails found" on matters with emails.
• Fixed a bug where Archie was suggesting chasing payment on voided or deleted invoices.
