A Trust Deposit Slip can be created in Smokeball when you receive cheques or cash deposits that need to be presented at your bank.
Deposit slips can only be generated for trust accounts, not operating or office payment accounts, as Smokeball does not look after the general ledger. MYOB or Xero provides the office deposit slip for accounting if you use them.
To create a trust deposit slip:
- Enter all relevant cheques or cash deposits.
- Navigate to the Accounts tab.
- Select Deposit Slips from the left menu and select the relevant trust account (if your firm has more than one).
- Select the Create Deposit Slip button.
- Select the date range for transactions that you want to view.
- Tick all transactions that need to be banked.
- Enter the Deposit Date, if different from today.
- (Optional) Enter reference notes in the Reference field.
- Select the Process button.
- You can view your deposit slip back on the Deposit Slips tab. Click on your deposit slip to generate it as a PDF file which you can download or print.
