If you are switching from a previous billing program, it is recommended to finish your ongoing billing cycle using the previous program. You should then transfer any outstanding balances and deposits to Smokeball before commencing billing with Smokeball.
Setting up your firm in Smokeball Boost
Upon signing up and logging in to Smokeball Boost, you will be presented with our Onboarding Wizard to set up your firm.

Confirm your Firm Name is correct (you can change this in Firm Settings later).
We will then look up your firm's address. Confirm if the address presented is correct, or amend if necessary.
We will also look up your firm's logo. Confirm if the logo presented is correct, or upload it from your files.
Next, set up your billing details by entering your Billing Rate ($) and Billing Units (minutes). This step is optional - you can enter the information later from Firm Settings.
- Your Billing Rate is the dollars per hour you charge your clients.
- Your Billing Units are the number of minute increments you prefer to bill your clients in.
Lastly, it's time to create your first matter. Enter your client's name, Matter Type and a brief description. You can also skip this step and create your matter later.
Now you can start using Smokeball Boost! With all these core settings filled in, you can get started with creating an invoice.
